Finding Your Style

Not everyone wants, or needs to want, a three-piece striped grey suit, or a bold plaid jacket. And, not everyone can really pull it off. If you work as a web developer, a grey chalk stripe flannel number is probably not going to suit you, though life does have its fair share of surprises.

What you have to do is work out what your particular style is. One of our team members here at AskOkey (Hashim) loves bow ties. That is his signature. Others have their signature: plain jackets, donegal tweeds, gabardine – styles, fabrics and colours. Now this is not to say that each of us has to wear the same thing all the time; nothing but grey suits or blue shirts, for example, but it is worth considering what we like, and what suits us.

What we like may, on consideration, not be what suits us. Depending on your age, size, skin colour, hair colour and general demeanor, different colours and styles will suit you. A bright yellow waistcoat needs a fairly boisterous, extroverted man to carry it. Similarly, if you are boisterous and jolly, dark charcoal grey might be required during working hours, but you probably will want to put on something colourful after knocking off.

So take a look at what lurks in your cupboard, and consider what you prefer. Get rid of everything else, no matter how bright, colourful, expensive or well made it might be.
